I have a CA that has been reporting on my credit report for about a year now. They bought the debt from another CA, and I finally decided to figure out what the heck the debt was from.
I sent a validation letter in late October. From what I understand- they do not have to respond, right?
So, then I disputed the entries with the credit bureaus. I did this in early November, and I am still waiting to hear back.
BUT, I signed up for the 3 in one credit monitoring, and I just had an ALERT that this exact CA just opened something new up on Experian. If it is under investigation, they have to stop reporting if they do not validate, or if it is being disputed with the credit bureaus? Who do I complain to and threaten- the bureau, the collection agency, or BOTH???

I would 'dispute' this on your Credit Report. When you dispute items, the CB HAVE to 'validated'information, on your account. You can dispute items via the web. If the CA is not 'validating' information, within a certain time, the CB can ( I've seen it happen) 'delete' the item from your Credit Report. The CA has ( I think?) 30 days to 'validate' information. That information can be e-mailed/mailed to you, by the CB.
