ok what the deal

I paid off my collections about 4 monthes ago. I have only two accounts with lates from over a year ago. One of which is not my fault( ex wife). I have increased my number of good accounts and yet my credit score went from a 520 to a 650 down to a 587 since I started visiting this sight I do not understand. What did I do wrong to make it go from 650 to 587?

A paid collection is scored the same as a unpaid one.Try to get

A paid collection is scored the same as a unpaid one.Try to get them removed from reports by disputing and your scores should go up.

Under present coding standards they are both derogatory remarks

Under present coding standards they are both derogatory remarks on a report.The only thing a paid collection or chargeoff will do to help you is when a underwriter does a manual review for credit.They will see you got in trouble but managed to repay your creditors.

collections are off the report. I had them removed.
