Collections on my report since May but have not contacted me?

Hi All,
I recently disputed something on my credit report from National Credit Adjusters with Experian since I didnt recognize it. The results came back that it is mine and that it is from another lender. Now that I know it is legit, I obvioulsy want to clear it up ASAP. The only thing is though that the report says they have been collecting since May, June & Aug 2009 - and I never heard from them once. Is this legit that they do this?
Also, I am planning to pay this ASAP - but would it be in my best interest to do a pay to delete? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

If they will agree to that I do not see why not push for it.
