credit help!!!!!

Ok forum, i haven't been on in a while...but i'm back and in need of HELLLLP!... i'm trying to clear up my credit and raise my score because i would like to start looking for a home come the new year. Problem is my credit score is currently in the low 500's and I don't know where to begin to try to build it. I have started paying of some crap on my report but any pointers are greatly appreciated... here is a snap shot of where i am.
$100 collection
$230 collection
$1134 collection
$326 collection
$654 collection (actually on my report twice.. CA and OC)
$289 collection
$216 collection
$907 collections(this one is a doosey, MYCASHNOW pdl i took out $600 and paid them back 702.84 before i was informed it was illegal to loan to me in NY...i took all the steps and sent all the neccessary letters, BBB,AG etc.... They stopped calling me but have some way found themselves in my report asking for an additional 907 on top of the 702.84 i've already paid.... is this legal?
Well that's my sob story!!! and advise?????

I'd say dispute the wrong entry, removing any such record from your report would greatly help in improving your score. Dispute the wrong information with the credit bureau.
