I am currently being sued by a JDB for a credit card account that I never had or used. I disputed the account number as not mine with the credit bureau and the result came back verified. How can an original creditor verify an account number as mine if it's not mine. I've had several different accounts with the original creditor but the one I am being sued for isn't one of them. How do I go about fixing this problem with the credit bureau? Keep disputing it? By what means does the credit bureau use to verify a disputed account?

I had two accounts with Bank of America that seemed to have the account number change after it went to charge off. Once FIA Card Services became the creditor it changed. I never received any notice of any account number changing.

I have one account when I sent the DV I indicated I never had an account with FIA Card Services and that I never had an account with the "new" number with any creditor. It's been six weeks since the CA received it, still waiting for some validation.

Did you ever send a DV to the JDB?

Same here! it's BOA. The account number seems to have changed when FIA sold debt to worldwide asset purchasing. I am trying to obtain validation (or is it verification) through discovery right now. The personal information about me is wrong and charge off amount makes no sense. Do creditors sometimes mix up your account information with others? Can/Do original creditors change your account number on your credit report when they sell or transfer accounts to another lender (CA)?

I know that my account number on my credit reports does show the "new" number under both Bank of America Listings.

But as far as I'm concerned, the CA needs to prove that. I have my statements from Bank of America that shows my original account number. I never received anything from Bank of America saying my account number changed and the CA has not provided anything showing BOA as original creditor with original account number such and such.

Mine is still with FIA Card Services which is part of BOA somehow, so I think it is weird the account number changed. But until they document what the original account number was in relation to the new account number they are trying to collect on, I'm not paying them anything.

Good luck!
