If you settled and paid a debt to the collection agency, does the OC have to show that the charged off debt has been paid on your credit report? Or is it just the CA that has to?

Does the OC still own the account? If not, then they will not change their reporting. If they do, then it should be reported as "Settled in Full/Less". Paying a CO will not extend the reporting period 7 years + 180 days from the Date of First Default.

I wouldn't think that the OC still owns the account. The debt was over 4 years old. How can you tell for sure who really ownes the account via looking at your credit report?
