Paid account opened on credit report

I had a Comcast account that had a balance after I disconnected services in June 2009. I paid it off in April 2011. This month (June 2011) a collection company I've never heard of before appeared on my credit report for the amount I owed previously and it lists June 2011 as being delinquent for one, secondly it lists June 2011 as when account opened. Both are clearly inaccurate, how do I get this fixed.

You will have to dispute the status of that account. If you've paid off that account, then you must be having some documents pertaining to that. You should contact your original creditor with those documents and ask them why they have charged off the debts to a collection agency when it has been paid off in full. I'm sure that the original creditor will look into the matter and withdraw the account from collections and update the status of the account in your credit report.
