Why do major credit companies like equifax, make it harder for citizens to delete there old paidoff accounts, are they lazy or they jus dont care.Who delegates their obligation to do the job responsibly

The CRA won't delete the negative item before its past the seven years reporting time frame. It's mentioned in the FCRA laws.

Are you seeing this item even after it's over seven years from the date of first delinquency? In that case, you will need to file a formal dispute with the CRA and request them to remove the trade line.

What if I have an account that was paid through a settlement to an outside agency (not the original creditor)?

I have one that was paid off through an agency, but the original creditor still shows it as a charge off and reports it every month, but it is paid.
