Help with newbie on Pay for delete

Can anyone help? I'm just starting to fix my credit.I have several (valid) nicks on my credit. I was on disability (still am) and made a lot of mistakes that I really want to clean up. I don''t know where to start...so here it goes.
Tuesday night I was served with a 10 day summons. It was for a credit card through JP Morgan Chase that had been sold to a collection agency who obtained an attorney. The debt amount was for a little over $2100 along with that there is $435 in interest as well as $400 for their attorney fee. I have never been summoned for anything, ever. So I called them this morning. The call was recorded and all information would be used towards getting the debt paid. fine. I told her I was on disability and how little have each month. I could make $10 a month payments or a $1000 lump sum payment. She called her client who countered with $1500. I said no, $1000. Her client accepted that and said she would be sending me paperwork to sign. I asked about getting this removed from my credit report and basically got no where. She wouldn''t even say for sure if it would said "paid". Is there any way for me to still get the PFD? What are my options at this point? If I can''t get them to agree to the PFD can I "fight" the claim on my credit report once I pay the $1000?
Of the other nicks on my credit none have made contact with me for a long time. They are all old debts. Most of them have been sold to collection agencies where do I start on getting the original creditors taken off my report? Is there any way to do that? What happens if they agree to the removal, but never actually do it? Should I contact them one at a time as I get money or should I contact them all at once?
