how long does it usually take for your credit score to start going up after paying off accounts one by one and getting a few credit cards to help get good payment history?

Anywhere from 30 to 90 days. It is a slow process but you seem to have the right ideal. It may take one of the 3 credit agencies longer than the others, but it will happen. Good job, keep chekcing your credit. I would also click on the "free consultation" button that is just to the right of this post, they can help you with much more and welcome to the site.

all the best,
james

I found this info on the Experian site:

Quote:

It is impossible to say precisely how much a credit score will change or how quickly because credit scores consider your entire credit history. How long it will take for your credit scores to improve and by how much depends on the information that was removed and how it related to your overall credit history.

There could be significant improvement quickly if there is no other negative information remaining. However, you could see very little change if there still are late payments or public records ???????? court judgments, tax liens, or bankruptcy ???????? in your credit history, especially if the remaining negative information is more recent.

Your credit report does not indicate if an application was approved or declined. There may be an inquiry indicating you applied for credit. The only evidence of approval would be the appearance of a new account. However, if a new account is not added, it does not necessarily mean you were declined. You simply could have chosen not to accept the loan. Lenders do not interpret the appearance off an inquiry without a new account as a declination.

I personaly think that transunion, euqafax, and experian should all have to be controlled by the goverment for everything they do. They are doing a horrible job, at least of my credit, nothing but liars and not very smart. I wished I had the power for my goverment to take total controll over them and pay for every mistake and lies they make. I know for sure my goverment cant do any worse job than they have.
