I have CA that I want to do a settlement this week. Currently they are not reporting the $$ amount to my credit history however this account was with another CA prior this CA since I didn’t pay them the first time they sold it to this new CA that I want to do a settlement now.

Now the question is should I ask them “Pay to delete” since they are not reporting this to my credit history and when I do a settlement this week with them and then I should call the previous CA and tell them to take this collection out since they don’t hold this account anymore and its been taken care

have a question on 'Pay to Delete'. Does thisw work with Credit cards, as well? If a CA (collecting for an old CC account) agrees to this, should I get something in writing from them, etc? Can someone give me advice on how to handle this?..thanks.

Always get in writing when doing a pay for delete. Send a letter out to them stating the terms of the pay for delete and make sure you send it certified returned mail receipt requested. A little more expensive than regular mail, but you have a paper trail with signature card. Do not pay until they agree to the terms back to you in writing. Also, do not fall for the "we will report to the CRA's accordingly". This simply means they will report it was paid, but not delete it from your credit report. Good luck!
