Providian Reports Incorrect Date

Providian reports an date ( last payment 30 days late incorrect )on my credit report. This extends the SOL. Providian also reports that they sold the debt.
Can I contact Providian? I don't think I can. They were bought out by a company that was recently bought out by another company.
Which company might any documents on this old debt?
