Very Frusterated

1. 4 years ago my (now ex) husband and I purchased a car. We split about a month later and didn't actually get legally divorced until this year (although I originally filed in 2005 but could not locate him). In any case, he took the car and then when he could not make payments any longer gave it back to the dealership. I have not spoken to my ex since we split so I had no idea until I saw it on my credit report. I have disputed it with all the credit reporting agencies and they continue to "verify" the information and leave it on my report as a voluntary repo with an outstanding balance. I have written the creditor listed on my report a million times for information to try to just pay it off to get rid of it and they NEVER respond and it has been a year that I have been trying. What can I do??
2. I have a dental bill on my credit report from work my ex-husband had done while we were married. I have contacted the creditor and received detail of the bill and confirmed it is all dental work for my ex-husband yet they will not remove from my report. Is this possible? We are legally divorced.
Thank you for any help and experience you can offer.

Depending on state law you may be liable for husbands debt under doctrine of necessities. The vehicle you are gonna be stuck with since it was owned jointly. You are equally responsible for the repo and balance. The dental bill will depend on if the account was individual or joint, open in your name or his,and if you reside in a community property state. Even a divorce decree cannot release you from a contract you have made. if the decree says he is responsible for the debt, all you could do is sue him for the monies you are gonna have to pay.
in regard ot the car
The car I understand since i did co-sign. The thing is regardless of what happened, I would like to pay off any owed balance (or work out payments with the creditor) but they will not respond to me at all. Is it ok for them to keep it on my credit report and I just have to live with it there? Is there anything I can do to help resolve it? How can the credit reporting agencies verify it and I cant get any info from them?
