I have a Cap One CC account, that I defaulted on back in 2003. The notation on my CR says "charged off" but there is no collection agency listed on my report that would be for this account.

My question is this: How do I, and would they, consider re-opening my account, so that I can start paying on it, while keeping it open? Like, I wouldn't use it at all, just pay it down, and then, when it reaches $0, I could start to use it again, to build my credit back up?

Does Cap One usually go for things like this? What do you think my chances are, and how would I go about doing this?

you might want to check with them.my CHASE card is permanently closed.even though it never went to collection agency.some companies won't hire CA'S or sell the debt, but keep charging int till it's paid off.i would also check on that.chase did that with me too.

Once it is charged off it is too late. I had a capital one card and when I was sick they put a stop on it and it went to internal collections. I paid it off and went to use it and they wouldn't let me. Mine never got charged off, it was only 60 days late. I called them and you have to go threw hell to get to use it again. I know you have to write to them, but god knows what else you need do.

I suggest not dealing with them as they are rated as one of the worst credit cards to deal with. That is my 2 cents.
