what else should I do?

I am trying to repair my credit. I have about 9 negative items on there, and only 2 good.

The two I have that are good are my secured credit card that I have had for almost a year now, and my student loan.

Other than paying those two on time every month, is there something else I can do?

I don't qualify for any other cards as my score is about 575.

I have two of the bad items that will drop off in 2012 and the rest in 2015. I know it's a waiting game, but I was just curious if there was anything else I can do?

You should make regular payments on those two items which are in good standing. This will in turn help you in improving your credit score slowly. You can negotiate with your creditors so that they remove the negative items that are listed in your credit report especially for those which will get removed by 2012. If they remove those negative items from your credit report, it will help you in improving your credit scores.

If it's not possible to remove negative items from your credit report before a certain time, then try to add more positive information to your reports. Apart from helping you boost your credit score, even if slowly, it'll also help you qualify for loans with suitable terms and conditions in future. This is because your creditors will feel that you've learnt to manage your debts and personal finances properly.

The first thing to always consider is whether any derogatory item posted to your CR is accurate. If not, send the reporting party a direct dispute.
The second thing to consider is whether or not the debt is paid. If unpaid, you might want to try a PFD offer.
If the delinquency is legitimate, and the debt is paid, you can always attempt good-will letters requesting earlier deletion.
If all those dont apply or fail, then waiting for the CR exclusion period to expire is about all you can do.
To determine the period of CR exclusion for each derog, first list all monthly delinquencies reported on the OC account. Add 7 years to the date of each, and that is its individual CR exclusion date. Each monthly delinquency has its own date.
For any collection or charge-off reported, the CR exclusion date is 7 years plus 180-days from the DOFD on the OC account which matured to charge-off or collection. So you must know the DOFD on the OC account. That single DOFD applies to both collections and charge-offs, which fall at the same time. If not stated in your CR, you can obtain it from the CRA by filing a request under FCRA 609(a)(1).
