So I finally pulled a credit report. I have two items in collections-
One is ThinkCash-I finally called the collection company that has my debt and got them to settle the debt. It is around $2000 which I am relieved they accepted. So now I have to pay $875. They will also report that the account was paid in full.

Then I have verizon wireless for $278 (back 2010). They are willing to take $60. Is it worth it to pay? I have heard it hurts your credit when you do have something off in collcetions.

Back in Jan-2012 I had an unpaid bank account turn me over to JJ Marshall who had me served which I ended up with a judgment. I have been making payments on since then-The balance is $1200-Well I got it down to $800 and they turned me over to have my checks garnished for the whole debt-saying that I havent paid a dime. So I filed a motion with my local court which cost $21. I have a hearing with the Judge 4/13 to how proof I have paid which I have including front/back and the checks cashed by my current bank. My correct balance now with the new fees are $919. Am I crazy to ask the judge wo waive the $21 fee since the attorneys paperwork was not correct? I know its not alot but it will help.

I have joined a ccs back in Feb. 2012 and I am working on getting my credit cards caught up to report current on my credit report. They are reporting 60 days right now.

I know my judgment with JJ Marshalls has really hurt me already I just dont want to make it any worse. Lucky for me the balance isnt too big ... Any suggestions or anything I should be doing different? Thanks!

Was the ThinkCash account for a payday loan? I think ThinkCash is not licensed to operate in Michigan. Check with Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services. If ThinkCash is unlicensed, you don't need to pay the collectors or the lenders anything more than the principal amount that you had borrowed.

As for the Verizon account, I think you should pay it off and get it off your record. The judge possibly won't waive the court fess but might direct the plaintiff to bear the fees.

Is the CSS you are enrolled with a non-profit one?

Just get your debts out of the way, start using secured credit cards and rebuild your credit score slowly.
