I recently got mine & my spouse's free copy of a credit report. It had a totally incorrect address for both of us. I disputed this and it was removed. However, it states an employer for me - which looks like they used a very bad misspelling of my spouse's employer. The problem is that I am not even employed by them or at all. I have not gotten a paycheck since 1986 - I am a stay-at-home parent. I also disputed that information, but they did not remove it. Should I bother since it is not even a real company, and if I should how do I get them to take it off? I have not gotten a report from any other company this year, so I do not know if it is on another one. Where would they get this information including the wrong address? We never even lived anywhere near the city they showed.

Don't let this incorrect item from the employer stay on your credit. You won't be able to prove this item to any future lender when you will be looking for new credit. They will assume this to be a negative dent on your file. Dispute the item with the bureaus and get it fixed. You have the rights to ask for the results of the investigation. If they can't prove, the item must be deleted.

Most spouse's employer's end up on credit reports by being reported by one of your current creditors. If you and husband have any joint accounts together, that is how it got there.Personal info does not harm your credit, but if you wish to correct this then here is the procedure.Instead of using a dispute, type up a letter updating them with your current address and telling them that your husband's employer on your report is misspelled.Give them the correct spelling.Next contact any creditor where you have joint accounts and ask them to update their reporting records to show the correct info.
