If the company has no history of me, how is it on my report

You need to send a debt validation letter to the collection agency. Also, dispute the account with the bureaus.

You might start by demanding full validation f the debt from the collection agency. There's a sample letter on here somewhere. Be sure to send it to them certified mail, return reciept requested. Keep a copy, and keep the little green card you get back, that shows they signed for it. Validation will give you the details of the [alleged] debt including the original creditor, balance, dates, and payments. You can go from there depending on what they send you. Yes n do as unclewulf advised u,send those letters via certified mail with a RRR so that u have the proof that they received ur letter.

The same thing happened to me, I disputed it with the bureuas and I got 2 companies removed from my report in the last 2 weeks!

i had a credit card with providian in 2000-01 i thought i had paid it off, but in 2005 Presidio/cm (which i can not get a hold of for the past 3 years) was posted on my credit report saying i owe them for that account. i disputed it but it came back "verified". Now midland credit management is trying to get money from me for the same account. i dont know the phone number for providian the original account holder... can any one help me.

i just got providian removed from my cr, i sent them a dv and they couldnt verify the debt so they removed it, i cant find the number right now, but the address is PO BOx 660509, Dallas TX 75266-0509, good luck!
