I have been doing my homework regarding settling with credit cards and I have noticed that pretty much all the letters note something about paying extra for a good reporting to the credit bureau's. But I have yet to see anywhere a baseline amount that someone should or would pay for this. Also, I can pay extra for the credit card to not put something bad on my report after I settle?

Well, some creditors would agree to a pay for delete when you settle with a lump sum payment. Don't know what you mean by reporting favourably to the credit agency? According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act the creditors and collection agencies are required to report only the correct information to the bureaus.
