How do I even start??

I have been reading this topic with interest but must admit I still feel pretty overwhelmed. In the past nine years I have gone through a divorce and two bouts with cancer. Needless to say, my credit is in the dumpster. At one time about a year ago my credit score was only in the 400's. I have not even had the nerve to look at what it is now. I see some great ideas in here about letters to send requesting settlement in turn for them deleting it from your credit report. The thing is I have several accounts that are pretty big ... $900 to $1500 written off. I am currently unemployed and looking for a job but want to take care of this when I have some money coming in .. but honestly, even after reading the posts, I am overwhelmed. I am not sure what I could offer that would even be close to settling on an account of $900 to $1500. I assume you would have to offer a fairly significant settlement. I am not in a position to do this. Any suggestions on how do I even go about starting this??
It is true that you can settle the debt somewhere between 40 to
It is true that you can settle the debt somewhere between 40 to 60% of the outstanding debt amount, but I don't think that if you settle your debt for less, the creditor will agree to pay for deletion agreement.
If you want to settle off the debt with the creditors, you can either register with a good debt settlement company or you can do it yourself by getting in touch with your creditors.
