Credit score remained unchanged even after debt settlement

Thanks for this wonderful community. Here is my issue.
Last year June I've settled my three credit card accounts with the hope that it would improve my score. I'm currently trying to qualify for a mortgage. So, when I pulled my report recently I have found to my dismay that my score hasn't improved since last June. My question to all who have settled their debts, is it normal to happen? What can I do to improve the situation?

Settling accounts is not paying as agreed so it does nothing to
Settling accounts is not paying as agreed so it does nothing to raise your score. In most cases it will lower your score.
To raise your score you need credit that is paid on every month, on time.
