Credit score & job offer

Does anyone know if companies actually check candidates credit score before offering a position?

I am trying to get a better paying job, and at the same time am in process of dealing with credit card companies trying to reduce my payments. It just happens so the company I have applied and interviewed with is also doing a background check. Not sure if it includes credit score or not. Does any one have any experience with this? thanks in advance.
