Yippee! My scores are still going up! :)
Date: Thu, 08/24/2006 - 05:59
I still have a TON of work to do....I'm waiting on some disputes to come through, and some payments to post...Then hopefully my bottom two (Transunion and Experian) will catch up with my Equifax.
Random vent: I KNOW the companies aren't connected, but WHY IS EQUIFAX so much easier to deal with? TU and EXP get on my nerves with their delays, and ignoring me...GAHHHHHHHHHH! EXP, though, is on it's way up..They finally reported my balance on one account PAID, but it didn't help my score out much yet....It probably will soon though....
So anyways.
Experian is my lowest, at 511...It actually went down from 521 after my Carecredit charge off reported "PAID" which cut my total debt down by $1819...Not sure why that is...But these things have a way of changing. MY "how lenders view you" section is Between Poor and Very Poor.
Next up is Transunion at 533 which "how lenders view you is "Poor" YAY! I'm not VERY POOR anymore..Hey that rhymes.
And now, my golden bureau..I love Equifax. My score is now at 594..Which is "between fair and poor".
My goal for the year was to get up to 600...And I'm almost there! yippee!

Congrats, I have been doing the same thing. I had filed a 7bk several years ago but a lot of the stuff still stayed on my report. I disputed all of it and had everything (like 10 accounts)totally erased. I only have 2 negative things which both show paid in full. I also had almost all my inquiries erased. Keep up the good work. My score was in the low 500s a year ago and it they are all higher than 620.

Good going Jessi, you almost achieved your target scores in the Equifax report as planned. You will be able to take care of your credit and won't let it go down. Now, some hard work is needed in the other two reports. If you can fix some of the errors there and pay small accounts, the scores will go up. If they are being reported in the Equifax also, things will improve to better. Wish you the best! :)

You go!! Congratulations, I know it feels awesome.
I have been working on my credit for just over a month. It was and is pretty awful.
I started out with approximately $25,000 in debt. Mostly medical and credit cards. $6000 of that is student loans which are in good standing. I have eliminated $7000 worth of debt in that short time. With the exception of two entries that I disputed all were legit and all i really wanted was proof of the balances owed. Well they just deleted them and that was that. My scores have gone up roughly 30 points each.

sday, imagine!! You began with $25K of debt. $7K worth of debt is already eliminated and this has raised your credit scores. You are left with $18K in which $6K of your student loans are in good standing. So, you see, some hard work is to be done on $12k and put it in good standing. If one month of hard work gave you such positive returns bringing the total from 25k to 12k, a little more serious work will improve your credit standing for the future. Stay dedicated, you'll get the results as you go ahead. It won't take long.

sday Keep up the good work. Jessi is living proof that it can be done. She has done a great job. KYSIDE38 :D :D

After reading your post, I decided to check my credit scores. I remember last year at about this time, my credit score was between 480 and 517. Since I have been maintaining my credit cards, any loans and of course student loans, you will be happy to know that my credit scores are now above 600. Although still considered weak, that is huge step in rebuilding my credit.
This place is a great place to come to.

There are some places that if you sign up for a credit monitoring company for thirty days free, you can access your credit score for free. After that, depending on which company you have, they will charge you between $5.00 and $12.00 per month to monitor your account. In my opinion, it is really a great investment. You get to monitor any unusual activity on your credit report and check your credit score. There are different ones out there.

Jessi, I bookmarked that link thanks. I had to have fraud alerts put on my CR this past summer because my bank acount information was phished so I just sent out letters to all 3 agencies to get those alerts removed. My credit scores are so low that no one would want my identity, shoot they can have it and they can give me theirs, they probably have a better credit score than I do...lol
Anyhow I am working on getting my car refianced at a better rate in a month but wanted to check my scores before I even tried.. thanks for the information
how long
I am signed up for a credit monitoring service as i have been working to repair my credit. I like that i can go in and see what is going on. I successfully rehabilitated my student loan. I understand that the default will be taken off my credit report. The former owner of my student loan, (it has now been sold), said they would report to the credit bureaus at the end of October and it would be removed as a default. However, nothing seems to be happening as far as I can tell by the monitoring. How long before I should check it out? I am curious to see how much my credit score will go off with the student loan default removed.
Thanks!

Congrats on your improvements!
tired, but so happy i could cry
Thanks for the info. I have been working my **** off to get ahead of my debt. I have worked OT as much as they will let me at my full time job and am delivering newspapers in the morning for extra cash. I am boned tired but feeling good about getting rid of the debt. Maybe in a year I can take a vacation! :D No kidding though - it will be worth not EVER having a vacation if I get those bills paid off. I even have enough money saved for Xmas. I am happier than I have been in years and all I ever do is work and sleep! It will be sooo worth it in the long run.......... I plan on being debt free in 5 months. I will celebrate with happy hour then start working at saving money so I don't get in this bind again.

TrueCredit
Hey all. I'm new, as you can see, and let me first ... WOW! You're all amazing! I am so very impressed by the desire to help others that I have seen here. Good for you!
Anyhow, I just wanted to make sure that you were aware (Jess I mean you mostly) that Truecredit's scores are off, and usually show lower than your actual Fico. I've had Truecredit for a long time now and I also pull scores from myfico.com (which gives REAL scores) and have found I am underestimated on Truecredit. Mind you I'm not bashing Truecredit, as their estimated scores and reasons for the scores are very useful for credit repair. My point being, you probably have hit your goal of 600 on your equifax eventhough Truecredit says otherwise.
So good for you!
I am so interested in helping others in their credit repair endeavours and I applaud all of you for helping yourselves and others. I repaired my own credit after filing a bankruptcy in 2002, and successfully got every negative item removed (save the bankruptcy but am working on it now). I started with scores in the low 400's (yeah they go that low lol) and now am around 700 on all bureaus.
I am SO GLAD to see others out there taking control of their finances and credit! We DO have the power! Give yourselves a pat on the back! You're all great for what you're doing here!

Bobbie, you were able to get all negative items removed, even the legit negative items? From what I understand, if it is legit, and you do owe the money or if it was a charge off etc, it cannot be removed. You were able to get it removed? How did you do this?
Yes I got everything removed, except the bankruptcy, but I haven
Yes I got everything removed, except the bankruptcy, but I haven't tried yet. I have gotten a valid bankruptcy removed from my husbands report just by disputing it. Anything inaccurate or unverifiable must be removed. The loophole in our favor is the word unverifiable. If an item is unverifiable, it gets removed. When you initiate a dispute the credit bureau has 30 days (45 if you dispute from a free report) to verify the information. If it isn't verified, it must be removed. I guess the thing to consider is that normal people are doing these jobs. So you have the "checker" from the bureau and then the creditor themselves. The way I see it that leaves room for error, or the chance of getting someone who just doesn't care. Ive had things verified that were so totally wrong it was ridiculous. It was an incorrect tax lien and I sent them the paper from the court and all and they still verified it. It took 3 times to get it off of one report. Yet the other two bureaus got it removed immediately. Obviously someone didnt want to do their job, so they just said it was verified. It seems the same has been true in my favor, because I have had things removed that were very much accurate. If this happens they have 3 days to reinsert the item and they must notify you.
Another "angle" is if you have included an item in bankruptcy. The creditor or collection agency knows they aren't getting paid, so they are usually willing to work with you. If you're able and willing to pay the item, then negotiate it with the creditor to pay the item only if they agree (in writing) to remove it from your reports. Get a letter of deletion and receipt as well. Of course never try to pay unless youve failed at getting it deleted. Dispute everything. Not all at once. Do it a few times. Youd be amazed. One thing to note is the last date the creditor reported to the bureaus. If it was a long time ago, chances are they put your file away and wont respond to the dispute.
Don't let them fool you into thinking you're stuck with bad credit. It takes time, but you can clean your reports.

Also, one more thing! Did you use a lawyer to do this? If so, did it cost a lot? The lawyer I talked to must not know what he is doing cuz he told me I could only have things removed from my credit report that were false.

OK - now I am confused. I have read more posts regarding disputing negative items from credit reports. Some say only time will take them off. Some say that some can be removed, but they may come back. I am not sure what the truth is here? I am apt to believe that it is unlikely I can remove many negative items and have a 700 score?
Nope, no lawyer. You dont need a lawyer and you should not pay
Nope, no lawyer. You dont need a lawyer and you should not pay anyone to do what you can do for the cost of your time and maybe postage if you ever need to mail anything. A lot of people say you cant have correct negative information removed. If they can't or do not verify it, then it gets removed. And I have never had anything reinserted. Do yourself a favor and try yourself before you consider paying anyone. I went to lawyers and credit repair places before I decided to do it myself. 1800.00 is a quote I got from one lawyer. What a rip off. They cant do anything that you cant. Then I searched the internet and read everything I could find and tackled it myself. I had REALLY bad credit. My score was in the low 400's. Basically it was all negative with one positive. I had no concept of credit. Now its all gone and I have over 20 positive accounts and just the bankruptcy, which I just disputed on my Equifax. We'll see. Its worth a shot :) My scores are all around 700 with the bankruptcy still on there, coming up on 4 years old now.
So believe me when I say you can do it! I'm always willing to help, as Im sure others here are too.
Good luck!

If you want to just accept that they cant be removed, thats your choice. Im telling you Ive had it done. Ive got the old reports and the current to prove it. I was amazed and thrilled too. Ive done it for my husband and his mother and sister as well. It happens all the time. Not always on the first try, but it happens. Why not try? What do you have to lose? If youve filed a bk I feel its more likely they wont respond to the dispute because they arent getting paid either way, so I think they get rid of your file. As I mentioned, check the date last reported to see if they are still reporting on you monthly. If its been a long time since they've reported, I've found when I disputed, the item came off. No one can guarantee you a 700 score. But be sure the deletion of negative information will raise your score. How much is dependent on the type of information and the age of it.
