This lien was posted for an amount not owed. I eventually straigtened it out with FTB, but they never removed the lien. This lien has just cost me a job. How do I get this thing off of my credit report?

I discovered this last night when I received the letter advising that I was turned down for the job due to the lien. At the time this was resolved with FTB they assured me it would be removed. That was in 2005. I didn't realize it was still on my credit reports because it is only on one at this time. I disputed it with Experion last night online.

I am going to call the FTB today, but am not hopeful that it will do any good. They are very departmentalized and extremely difficult to deal with. For this reason, I am looking for the best approach to resolve this matter ASAP. Thanks!

Two 1099's were sent to the FTB by the same company erroneously thus reporting double what I had actually earned. I had recently filed bk and simply did not respond to them knowing I owed them nothing. (Big Mistake) I moved to NV and a year later they sent two "goons" to my home looking for the "17K+ I owed them". I finally contacted an accountant who discovered the error and fixed it, and I received a refund from the state! I spoke with someone from the FTB thereafter and was told that liens are removed only if requested in writing. I made the request and never looked back. At that time, my credit was so bad I knew it would take several years to recover so I started the process of establishing and maintaining good credit. I finally reached a score of 700 and did not realize that the lien was still on my report. I get updates through FICO. This lien, however, was reposted in 12/2008, and now there is another one for 2K + . I have no idea what this second one is.

No notes or letters. At the time, I was naive and assumed that the FTB would act appropriately. So much for "assumptions."
