owever, you should check whether or not you really owe the debt first.

You should always get an opportunity to get your debt validated.

Do i pay it and have the creditor send me something in writing to remove debt if paid?

You'll probably need to send a Pay for delete letter to your creditor-

You need to payoff the medical bill immediately. When you payoff your medical bill, then the creditor will inform to the credit bureau regarding this. The credit bureau will be updated your account status as ???Paid-in-full???. You will have to pay the judgment according to the court order. If the court issues a judgment order against you, then the creditor may get the right to garnish your wages or, freeze your bank account.
