Employers will check your overall credit record including your scores before they give you a job. You may be considered much more reliable if you have a good score. Thus, your chances of getting a job will be increased if you have a good credit score.

A lot depends on the responsibilities of the job. Jobs involving feduciary responsibility or the handling of confidential or proprietary information usually involve checks of your credit report. Many jobs do not involve a pre-employment pull of your credit report. That is costly and time-consuming on the part of employers, and is not an across the board practice.
