Credit checks by potential employers
Date: Thu, 04/01/2010 - 19:09
Hi everyone. I've been unemployed for 18 of the past 24 months. Maybe I'm crazy but I am hopeful that I will get a job soon. My biggest fear is that I will be knocked out of the competition once a potential employer checks my credit, which, obviously, has tanked in the past 24 months. I've heard that a few States are looking in to reforming the law that prohibits credit checks for jobs that do not involve handling of money. Does any one have any any advice about how to deal with yet another horrible problem dealt to the working class as a result of the economic crisis? Thanks.
It's hard to say which of the employers would run a credit check
It's hard to say which of the employers would run a credit check and which not. But I'm sure that in the present situation many of us have suffered the same way as you have. Our credit has tanked despite our best efforts. I hope the employer too would understand that. But, if you are asked, take the opportunity to explain your situation.
I really hope that you get the job. Best of luck!
