I'm nineteen years old and want to get a credit card. But now since the new laws have come I know that I would be needing a co-signer to get my first card. However, my mother's credit is shot and she has got many accounts to collection. Can she still be my co-signer? If the bank doesn't accept her signing for me, what option do I have?

it means that your mother will be held responsible if you go behind with the payments so yes the bank is going to check you moms report as well and by going by what you say your mom would not qualify very easily for the new credit card in your name . my sugesstion to you is why dont you help your mom pay of her debts instead of getting into debts your self let me tell you credit cards are not a luxury and does not look good in your wallet
