I just was approved for a capital one card at a good rate, which i'm thrilled about. but the other day i bit the bullet and signed up for an orchard bank card, which has a few fees (annual fee namely)

I haven't gotten that card yet, and they say the application is still processing. Could I cancel that? Even if i lose the $19 dollar processing fee, that'd be okay. Or would I still be on the hook for the annual fee? Would it help me to just keep the card, pay the annual fee this year, and use it for small purchases that i easily just pay off each month, such as a cable bill or something?

In all 50 states you can cancel a contract within 72 hours. If you're still within that window, cancel and get a refund. Even if it's beyond 3 days, credit card agreements terms and conditions don't kick in until you physically receive the credit card with the agreement, sign the card, and use the card. I agree with Rebecca, call them up, cancel, and get your refund.
