Any way to removed PIF and Settled Accounts from my report?

I have finally after 5 years become debt free thanks to various articles, posts, and the support of my fiancée. However while I understand that items can be present on a persons report for up to 7 years, I was curious if there was anyway to remove items that have been paid in full or settled for partial payment after a few years. For example a BofA credit card I got at 18 was settled and paid 3 or 4 years ago but still shows.

As long as the information is correct there isn't much option to remove it from your report. However, the influence of an negative item gets diluted with time, provided the other factors remain in good standing.
