Disputing Negative Marks

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this? And is this how it really works?
I could probably do this myself, but I'm afraid that continuing to dispute negative marks (which I know to be correct) will cause the agency to "red flag" me or something. I don't want to make matters worse. What is the downside of trying this?

Hi Ball Mich,
Well, I personally tried on of there credit repair companies 2 years ago that promised me the world! until now, I haven't seen any results! the lady keeps saying it takes time but I just forgot about her because I was tired of dealing with her and I got online, do alittle search and reading as to how dispute items and remove invalid debts etc. and I removed 5 begative items from my credit report! just by registering with freecreditreport.com look at every debt which 3 out of 8 were real! and that same program offers you a dispute center which you send a message asking the company to verify the debt and the amount and if its not real or there are mistakes, they delete it, that is how I deleted 5 of them, which were not mine at all! the rest, I called each collector and asked for payment plans but I made sure they agreed to a "pay for delete" letter in writing.! maybe you shold try to do it yourself, you'll save alot of money! i spend 500 on mine and they didn't do anything for me! oh yes they did in fact, They screwed me up!!!! I also read in another page and it is for a fact that the items might appear back in your report if you do the Credit repair with a company since they write false promises letters with your signature kind of like " I promise to pay later" haha! if you never pay well they show up again. Just becareful and read alot through out Forums like this one where you have true experiences. good luck!

Well in my case, all of my negative marks are in fact correct and reported correctly as well. There aren't any invalid debts or such. Plus, they are all recent charge-offs, so I don't think the records will have been destroyed or archived at this stage, and I believe if I dispute them they will validate the debt the the agencies.
Further, I've settled all of these debts, so there is not an amount "due" on these accounts any longer. And they all were with the OC's, no CA's... so I'm not sure pay for delete's will work.

well, pay for delete is what worked for me, but it depends on the company too I guess. If you go to a credit repair company, ask them what they do in order to convince the companies to get you removed, I've heard and read they lie on your behalf, that is why they ask you to sign many sheets, and in the end, they don't garantee anything. You can risk it if you want or go to one that states that they refund your moeny if you don't see results! Its very good that they don't show "due" on it, I would send letters to the creditors and ask them nicely to remove you since you've already come to an agreement and settle debts. It's been working for me but every situation its different, you might opt for a company that does it for you! I wish you the best! keep us posted!
