Charge off please help

I co-signed a car for a friend back in 2001. The car was repossessed in 2002 and had a judgment against me in 2004. The account was reported in my credit report for 7 yrs and was removed back last. Now the creditor has renew the debt as a charge off and didn???t put the date the account was first reported late. Can they do that?
Judgements generally report for 10 years and can be renewed. Ha
