Equifax deleted & Transunion confirmed?
Date: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 07:00
Hi All - So far this site has been a great help to me...so thank you!
I have a few questions regarding some items I disputed at all 3 agencies.
1- If Transunion confirmed some items, Equifax deleted them and Experian never got back to me, can I do anything as far as showing the others that Equifax deleted the items and hope they'll do the same? (might be a stretch but who knows...)
2- Transunion confirmed something as mine but I dont know exactly what it is. So, I sent a debt validation letter to the collections agency this month certified letter and never heard back. Can I still say they didnt get back to me within 30 days to confirm the debt or is it a lost cause since Transunion already confirmed it. Im frustrated because if I could just get details on what it is, I'd pay it and get it resolved ASAP.
Thanks again for all your help!!

Since the collection agency has already confirmed the debt to TransUnion, it's good as validating it. The DV letter was redundant. Further, there is no time limit to reply to a validation letter. I think only Texas has a 30 days limit for the collection agencies to file a reply. In other places they may take as long as they need. Anyway, IMO a phone call would have given you faster response. Try to contact them over phone.

Also, as far as #1, some creditors only report to 1 credit bureau so that could be the reason for the discrepancy. However, it is worth the try for sure.
