I was reviewing my Transunion credit report. I see the inquiries from various collection agencies are showing up under the Regular Inquiry section and remain for two years. Same as if I had applied for credit myself.

Is that right?

I think they should be under the Account Review Inquiry section same as an existing creditor that would review your credit report but not be seen when the file is pulled?

Is this something worth disputing?

Interesting...in reviewing my Experian report I found this wording under the Inquires Shared With Others section:

"The section listed below lists all of the companies that have reviewed your credit history as a result of action you took, such as applying for credit or financing or as a result of a collection."

I suppose since all the other negative info is going to be there for 7 years or so these inquiries being there for 2 years really doesn't matter.

But strange to me that an inquiry from a CA shows up where it does by design. Guess it's another way to ding you a little bit more...

Nascar,
How long, how many times, how often can CA's continue to have permissable purpose to make hard inquiries on your reports?
