I just got a letter from this company in reference to a request for removal letter I sent in, this is their response....

Quote:
You have indicated that you believe we have reported inaccurate information about your credit card account to a credit reporting agency.

We ask that you please provide us with a statement, in writing, that identifies the information you feel is inaccurate and tell us why you believe it is incorrect.

If you have a copy of your credit report that includes the inaccurate information please send a copy of that report to us as well.

Upon recipet we will research your concern.
:?

Now what? Do I send them a copy of this report showing that I have an unauthorized inquiry there, or just send them the letter asking that they remove it again, I did include my account number.

I do not know if I would send them a copy of your credit report. I would think that just providing them the account number would be sufficient.

Are they reporting incorrect information or are they listed as an inquiry? Did you ever have this account and if so how long ago?

If it is a debt owed by you is it still in the statute of limitation?

From what I understand there are two types of inquiries, those hard inqiries when you apply for credit and soft inquiries when a bank or other creditor is keeping tabs on you. Those soft inquiries are not supposed to effect your score.
I would block out all irrelevant info from my report before sending it.
