Can someone tell me how many years it takes that an unpaid bill can be removed from my credit history?

It will show up for seven years plus six months from the date of delinquency. So you are looking at it being on your credit for another 4 1/2 years. My best advise is to send out debt validation letters to any CA listed on your credit report. You can find them here on this site. If they can not provide the proper documentation then they have to wipe it off of your credit (the CA, original creditors will still show up). From there you might look into the ones, providing anyone is able to validate your debt, that have the lowest balance and write them to see if they would consider a pay for delete and offer say 25-30% of the original balance. (making sure that you can truly pay that amount) When and if they accept the offer or counter offer, get it in writing and pay off. Keep copies of all letters and you will slowly clean up your report.

It is a long hard road, but well worth it.

Good luck,
Chrissy
