I'm ashamed to be writing this but here goes. I was convicted and served 1 year in jail for identity theft. I've been out for 5 years now. I'm sorry for what I did and the person has been paid their restitution. My question is this. The Credit card in question was taken out in 2001 I used it all the way up until 2003 paying every month to keep it a valid card. In 2003 I got wind of the owner having heard of it and then the legal system took over. I took the card out as a autorized user . The CA just contacted me in 5/2008 about paying the balance.(never hearing anything about it for 4 years) They do not know anything about the court case. I told the CA that I was an autohozed user and therfore not responsible for the bill. The victim has not heard anything from the CA and it doesn't show on their credit reports. It shows on one of mine. My final question is this. Legally, not morally is this a debt I will have to pay? or is the SOL run out. If the CA does not know about the court case are the breaking the law by listing me as the original applicant? Thanks in advance

did you pay all of the charges and fees that you ran up on the victims card? You said you paid restitution, but did that include the charges that are now being collected on? Did you receive anything in the mail from the collection company(ies), or did you find out about the collection from a credit report or another source?
