Hi

Only the creditors who get the notice will have to leave you alone, however, so it is very important to list all creditors with correct addresses. If you do not list a creditor with a correct address, that creditor may be able to sue you even though you have filed bankruptcy!

When you have filed for bankruptcy with the court, all the creditors that have been listed will be informed about your filing. It is very necessary to put the correct name and address of the creditor so that they get informed about your filing bankruptcy. Once they come to know about it, they are required to cease collecting the debt from you.

Those who have got the notice will stop collection efforts and those who have not been informed will continue with their acts. So, before filing for bankruptcy list the correct names and address of your lenders. Your should keep a record right from the day you entered into a financial deal with them. If you do not keep correct information about your lenders, they may be able to sue you if you have filed for bankruptcy.

Also, if you recieve collection calls during, and after the bankrupcy proceedings, give your attorney information to the respective collector and then let them take it from there. Usually, once the bankrupcy has been officially filed, all debts will be suspended or cancelled until it is done. I once had a student loan defaulter have his defaulted loan suspended during his proceedings. Even though student loans are not dischargeable, EVERYTHING has to sit and wait until it is finished.
