I have charges on my computer from agencies that bought an old debt over 12 years ago - the original age of the debt was in the 80's and it has passed from one agency to another. I disputed the debt to the Attorney General's office and they never responded to their request for information (a big cellular company) and I am still being hounded by these agencies. Is there anything I can do to get this off my credit report. I took me forever to even find out what this debt was for because it has passed through so many collection agencies.

Hi!
Welcome to the Forums!

The debt is well past the Sol period. The collection agencies can't sue you for non-repayment of this debt. If you really owe the debt and want to pay it off, then you can contact the collection agency and settle the debt. Once the debt is settled, ask the CA to update the account status as "Paid as Agreed" or "Paid as Settled". But you should keep in mind that the Sol period on the debt will re-start once you enter into a payment agreement with the CA.
