I have been contacted by this company at my job. They told me that they are sending my paper work to DC at 2:30 pm with an warrent for my arrest am I wrong but, are they not a collection agency can they do this?

Hi! You really need to read the MANY postings there have been on this web site about this company. THey CANNOT "send police to your work to pick you up and arrest you". They tried with me. I got scared and sent them money before I found this web site. Now I really wish I hadn't sent them anything. I was worried that they would do something that would affect my family. My mom is a judge and can get disbarred if something I do affects her in some way. If these morons call you back, tell them that they cannot arrest you. Ask for their address and tell them you are sending them a debt verification letter. THey will fight and call you names, of course. But, hold your ground. Meanwhile, search this site and read all the pages of posts about this company. THey really suck.

A debt validation1 should provide enough information to prove that the collection agency is contacting you with legitimate reasons. Without this info in writing, you can't trust anyone if they should get your money and will be posting on your file. debt validation helps in identifying the genuine company from the bulk.

They, like so many debt collection agencies love to lie and scare debtors into paying them money. They threaten you with jail, but in all reality, this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. You will not go to jail for not paying ordinary consumer debts. The best thing to do is send them a letter demanding that they "CEASE AND DESIST" from contacting you by telephone, and also tell them that you are disputing the validity of the debt. Send it by certified mail so you can prove that they received your letter. The next time they call, tell them they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and if possible record the telephone call and tell them you are recording the telephone call and tell them if they do not wish to be recorded then they should never call you again, because you are going to record all telephone calls from them. What they are doing is illegal, so chances are that it will scare them away from calling you anymore.
