not accepting a lower payment

First, take a deep breath and try to relax. They will not send a bailiff after you. They're trying to scare you. A collector that posts on this site suggested in previous posts to go ahead and send your partial payment (I would get it certified with a receipt request). I would also send a letter, outlining your proposed payment plan. Once they receive this payment, they have to post it. Make sure you save proof of sending payments. If they ever did try to take it to court, you would have proof of making partial payments, and it would probably rule in your favor.

Welcome to the Forums :D What ca are you talking about? We may be able to give you some info on them. They will threaten any, and everything. If it's legal to tape record these, I would do so. Also keep all paperwork realted to this, names, etc. Is this on a credit card or pay day loan? ..Karen

Keep in touch with the original creditor. If your account is not sold to any outside CA, you may be able to work out payment arrangements with them without dealing with any CA.

Don????????t be afraid of the threats put by this CA calling you. Check your state laws and start recording their phone calls. You can press charges against them for FDCPA violations

I have a slightly better pitch, but this CA sounds like he's good at his job.
