Aspire Visa collections

I then refused to settle with the collection agency for anything more than $300.
We're now with a new collection agency/attorney trying for the same amount.
I have filed a dispute with the BBB and will be filing a complaint with the AG.
In the meantime...a couple questions.
Can Aspire continue to charge these fees after a verbal request to close the account AND after sending the account to collections?
Do they have to settle for the original amount when pushed to do so or am I stuck paying this $1300?
And...lastly, is there anyone else I can contact to help me out.

Aspire visa is the worst credit card company out there...I have never been able to use the card because once I opened the account they tacked on so many fees....They have refused to work with my debt cons. company yet they still take the payment the company sends them every month but constantly call and harrass me...I wish you the best of luck with these people, I have had none

My account was at $500 in December. Now it is up to $755. They refuse to be put on my debt management program. Their overseas customer service and collection dept give you phony names. When you call back to speak to a specific person, all of a sudden they don't know who you're talking about! :shock:

Had someone call me in April to say they would put me on a "reopen program" if I paid $51 by May 1. Gave them my bank account number. May 1 came and went and nothing came out of my bank account, in fact, the bank stated they never even attempted to take anything out. Called them on May 5 and to make a long story short was told by a "Danny" that if I paid by May 7 I would avoid any more fees. Paid via Moneygram on May 6. They tried to hit my bank account again May 7. Again bank has no record of it. They had the audacity to charge me $70 for two "returned checks" and $70 for late and OTL fees.
Called today and lo and behold they never heard of anyone named "Danny". What a surprise! :shock: Then someone from their collections dept came on and started yelling at me stating I had "retained" checks HUH? She finally hung up on me or rather just put the phone down and left so I hung up. They'll put that in my file that I hung up on her. :roll:
I'm writing to the dispute dept in Atlanta and disputing the $140 charge and am paying off the rest and closing it since now I have the resources.
Thanks for letting me vent. Anybody have any success with this scam outfit. I believe they will do ANYTHING to discredit the customer in order to collect the fees. That's how they make their money.

Scooter - The same exact thing happened to me with the reopen. They are huge scam artists. Now they are using a company called Global Vantedge to call my work and cell which I have told them not to call. I called Aspire and told them to tell that company to stop calls to my work and they said they did not know who global vantedge was. Yet, today I called Global Vantedge back and they have no records of me or the numbers they called at all. Who do I contact and how can I sue them. I want to file complaints with everyone. How do I do it?

I opened my account 2 yrs ago with a $300 credit limit, it's now up to $926.32. But the thing is that iv'e been trying to pay them off by them taking $75.00 out of my account for the past couple of month and my balance had not change. They keep adding on fee and so on.

When I finally settled for ONLY $75.00 less than what my balance was anyway, they told me they would send me a letter stating it was settled and take it off my credit. Now, not only is it still on my credit, I just received a letter from some other collection agency saying that the account was sold to them and they are trying to get payment on the $75.00!!! Now I have to send them the letter saying that the account was settled and closed and I can't even remember the name of the company. I was supposed to do this by January 10th but lost the letter from them so I can't even call them to get their fax number to send it. They haven't even sent me another letter in over 2 months! This is such a scam and because of them and a company called HSBC, I will NEVER open another credit card again....by MY CHOICE!
