Has anyone recently been contacted by this "company" about an alleged debt after signing up for either a mortgage service online, or being pre-qualified for a mortgage?

I thought that by reading my first post, it would be obvious that i had forgotten to ask the question. But, the so called company... Palisades Collections L.L.C, or is it Pressler and Pressler L.L.C? I called one number and got the other.

Suebee, Are they a debt collector or do they actually buy old charged off accounts and try to collect on them form somebody - anybody? I don't see how anyone can try to collect on a debt that isn't owed, and still sleep at night. What will it take to shut these vultures down? Is it my bad luck, or is everyone who is trying to get ahead plagued by creditors trying to collect for things that have already been paid or were never owed to begin with?

SgtLord - they are a debt buyer. There are so many threads on this site about them, it would take a whole page just to post the links to those threads.

Read what Bud Hibbs says about them:

http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/palisades_collections.htm

You're not alone in dealing with a debt buyer. We've pretty much all had them, and they're never pleasant to deal with.

If you do not owe the debt, or owed it at one time and can prove it was paid, report them to your state's Attorney General.
