my boss handed me a note saying a guy called saying i have to appear in court friday at 330. it is tuesday. how do i look this up to verify?

File a complaint with the FTC, the FCC, your state Attorney General, the Bureau of Consumer Affairs, etc. If you talk to them again, and they say they are taking you to court, tell them "ok. See you there! Now don't call me again!" IF they took you to court (and I doubt that *very* highly) you would file a motion for Discovery where they would have to *prove* it's your debt otherwise they lose.
