Credit Report

I just viewed my credit report from equifax and I found an account on there that looks fishy. There is no phone number for this company it only says this:

I contacted the company that it said the original debt is through & they couldn't find any evidence of an account sent to collections. They gave me a corporate phone number to call in the morning to find out for sure. If I call tomorrow and find out that this is a phony strike against my credit what do I have to do to get it removed?
If it turns out to be a legitimate debt, there is the possibility that my old sleazy roommate opened an account in my name & then never paid the bill (the account was opened in Jan. 04 then sent to collections in April 04) Is there a way to prove that I did not open this account and have it taken off of my credit report? Thanks for your help.
