Has anyone ever dealt with Alliance One. They are the collection agency for Capital One. They are quite rude and and borderline threatening.

You are right. Alliance One is one more collection agency that seems to be violating the federal and state laws.

Did they send you anything in writing about the debt? What state do you live in? If you can record the phone calls after checking with your state laws, you can sue them for each federal violation and recover the damages.

you people keep calling me and asking for tony crutcher. these calls have been going on for a year and i have told you repeatedly that there is no tony crutcher here and i don't know tony and have never heard of him. i have also told you repeatedly to stop calling and harassing me about someone that i don't know. yuo refuse to acknowledge what i've told you so i filed a report with the fair trade commision and if you keep calling there will be repercussions. so please quit calling if you do not want to be fined. again tony crutcher does not live at 600 high pt terrace, so do not call or send any more correspondence or the fair trade commission will be on your @#%$

:confused:Here is an interesting twist....I have two capital one credit cards HAVE ALWAYS PAID ON TIME and MORE THAN THE MIN. Payment.....we have been receiving calls from "capital one" but not REALLY Capital One...Why would Capital One turn over my account to a collection agency with the payment history I have with them (that being Steller)....NOW I am receiving a statement for over a 1000.00 owed when my balance is UNDER 200.00 AND the over 1000.00 is a DIFFERENT account number.....SCAM?

Wow i cant believe alliance one! I have been making payments to them faithfully every month for quite some time...about 3 plus years! I have never missed a payment and this last month i just got a new job and was transitioning from unemployment to a regular paycheck again and could only make 65 of my 100 dollar payment and called to make the other 35 this morning and they said i was in default and had to come up with the whole amount! yes they were aware of my situation and i kept them informed in advance and every step along the way! how rude! I am on the licensing program with them so it is detrimental to my job! I am a certified automotive technician so you can see it makes it hard to do my job now.....

When you make a payment plan with a third party collection agency it is called an accord. It temporarily suspends the original creditor from suing/collecting on the original debt (principal balance plus fees and interest). When you miss or are short on a payment, even by a cent, the accord becomes null and void because YOU violated it and the original creditor can now sue/collect the original debt. There is nothing the third party collection agency can do about it. Your best bet is to try to work out a new accord with the third party collection agency.

Unfortunately, very often, with a company as large as CapitolOne they have multiple customers with the same name. Have you verified with your SSN# with the agency calling you to see if they are calling the wrong Carol D?
