do you have any idea what card service this can be? sounds like a merchant account. You can call them and anonymously, block your number using *82, and ask them for their mailing address, or ask them in detail what card service is. Let me know..I may be able to get the info.

That's what so puzzling to me, because I just got this new cell phone number, and I don't even know the person they are trying to contact. I don't want to give them any of my information, such as my name, SS#, or address, and I really don't like talking to them, because they ask all of these questions. I've heard that about the only way to get a collection agency to stop calling is to tell them in writing to stop calling.

The funny thing is that I changed my cell phone number to stop my creditors from contacting me, and now I'm getting calls from some stranger's old creditors.

I guess a lot of people have credit problems.

Well this little ole website has almost 60000 registered persons navigating its threads, yeah there are a lot of people with credit problems :D

This is Bank of America formerly MBNA's collection department and as an original creditor don't hit them with fdcpa "stuff" since it does not apply to them. (Although state laws in some cases do have laws governing their collection conduct). Be aware that ceasing them may result in a lawsuit. Likely since it is an MBNA account they may just jump to arbitration. Also DON'T think *83 or whatever will block your number since it doesn't work against 800 type numbers. I guarentee they WILL capture your number. Try using a phone calling card to mask your number, you can also get a prepaid cell phone or Vontage to route all these nasty calls.

This number claims to be a Bank of America number. I looked this up on the Internet. Be careful. They start as anonymous calls telling you that you are some months behind on your credit card payments. I got one and I know I payed up. Now I'm getting calls by this number. BE CAREFUL!!!

do not send a reply the can use that against you in court they can say that since you responded you acknowledged the debt contact the card company only do not reply!!!

Someone keeps calling from this number at least four times a day. Can you give me some info on who this is, if it isn't MBNA?

Its bank of america credit card services. I was late on my payment, and got a call from this number.

However - NEVER give them your info when they call you -it could be anyone who got access to your credit info. If you are late on a bill ALWAYS call the company that you owe directly so you don't give your information to a scammer.

I have a BoA account with 2 credit cards, but my bills are paid and the next payment not due for a couple weeks and my checking & savings balances are positive. No idea why they would be calling me to collect.
