Hi,
Does anyone know this number or have a snail mail addy for them? I think it is the infamous allied interstate but just want to double check. Thanks everyone!

I have been getting calls from this phone number 888-748-4956. when I did a search who's number this belongs too. According to my research, the 888 number belongs to Capital One and I dont have no accounts with them. How do I get them to stop calling my phone number, I just got my number recently.

it's not positively capital one. for many people it's showing up as other things. we can't send a cease and desist letter to capital one when it's not even them.

These idiots have been bugging me too. I called and told them to stop calling and the calls DID cease for a coupl of months, but now, they have started up AGAIN. What can I do, other than lose my voice arguing with these fools?

This number has called us daily for the past 3-5 days. They ask for Cindy Call. When we say they have the wrong number, they say the call will be monitored for quality purposes. We asked them to stop calling and they have not. We believe this must be a dangerous scam. Please investigate.

They call me 12-16 hours a day starting at 5:30am and ending between 8:00-10:00pm. I get a break on Sunday where they start calling at 7:00am. I've been turning off the phone ringers. I have never owned a capitol one card in my life. They need to leave me alone, but they don't no matter what.

It IS Capitol One represented By Allied Interstate. I just returned their call and told them to NOT call again and they said it would be taken care of after 3 business days. I don't see anyone who has commented above say that they tried to call them back. It's actually a pretty easy solution once you do that.

I have a new AT&T cell number (another horror story in and of itself) and it came to me via someone with a "credit issue". I am now getting calls from this number - and others, and have returned their calls asking them to quit calling day/night. We'll see...

They call here also and will not state what it is about, the caller ID reads "TELEMARKETING" 888-748-4956

I don't owe any money and am registered on the donotcallregistry for years. I made a complaint. I suggest anyone else who does not have business with that company and is registered also make a complaint.

It IS Capitol One represented by Allied Interstate in a collection capacity. I just returned their call and told them to NOT call again and they said it would be taken care of in 1 to 3 business days. It is a easy solution, unless you are the person they are seeking to collect from. Thank goodness I am not the person they are looking for.

Allied Interstate would not be representing Capital One. Capital One would call you for approximately 180 days on an account that was past due. They then would charge it off and sell it to a bottomfeeder such as Allied Interstate. Realize that Cap One is the original creditor and not subject to the FDCPA. Once the debt is sold to a third party, that third party must then follow the FDCPA. Send them a Validation not Verification letter and see what happens.
They are using the guise that they are Cap One, and not subject to the FDCPA.

That's just garbage!

I don't care who they represent, calling me upteen times a day is not gonna get me to talk to them at all. I refuse to speak to the sub species who is on the other side of the phone. You would think that after calling me over and over they would get a clue, I guess not.

I have been on the Do-Not-Call List since it was initiated, but I will clearly have to register my new number.

Starting on a Sunday morning two weeks ago these people have been calling my number starting at 7:45am - 9pm every hour of the day. I am never home when they call, but I check my caller ID and I'm like WTH...all of my calls are from their number [Telemarketing]. So, this morning I did not go to work due to illness and I was able to answer the first call. The person with a foreign accent identified herself as "XYZ" from Capital1 and ask for someone who I have no clue about. I told the woman that I have a brand new number and I haven't even used it myself yet, that they were the first calls that christianed my phone number, but I would greatly appreciate it if they would not call my number anymore because I did notice that they had been calling several times. The woman said that she would have my number removed from the automated phone bank. I did not get anymore calls today after that conversation.

With that said, YES they can remove you from their database automatically. I think if you speak to the caller(s) nicely, they will treat you with the same courtesy. Good Luck!

Well good luck in getting your number taken off. I was told that two different times, that it would take three business days and guess what, today I got another call at 8:30 a.m. They ask for someone (first name garbled) and whose last name is the same as mine.

I gave them a piece of my mind about them calling so early on a Sunday morning. I am just sick of it.

I don't know who they are, but I called this number back and asked to be removed. They had some other person's name listed and said they'd remove me from the list. I wouldn't answer when they call, but call that number back and it goes right to a person.

Just started hitting me this week. I told them to leave me alone but they will not. I get a broken english request for some person. Cannot understand the idiot.
I have filed a complaint with the national do not call registry.

I just got a call from this number too. It was in reference to my ex- brother-in-law. My guess is he didn't pay his bill and is now unlisted so they are trying to find him. They asked if I had a phone number for him. I'm hoping they won't call anymore looking for him. I don't have any contact numbers for him but who knows if they'll actually remove me from their list.

I too am registered on the Do Not Call Registry and these scammers are calling me 6 times a day! I have told them they have a wrong number and they said they would remove my number 3 different times now and I am getting more and more calls instead. I'm glad I worked for you and with what I'm going through I have my doubts regarding your claims. I am going to report them to the PA Dept of Consumer Affairs, BBB and to the FTC.

This is a phishing scam purporting to be Capital One Collections.. DO NOT PROVIDE THEM ANY INFO. If you think you have a problem ... call CApital One using the number on the back of you card.

They are "allied interstate" and no they are not affiliated or sponsored by capital one...I called up capital one to verify and capital one told me that they have not heard that company. Capital one told me that if you do have an account with them they already have those info. on their system. So if that number call back again just ignore it or buy a house phone with a phone block capability....that's what i did i bought this Panasonic (kx-tga931t) cordless phone with a phone block option so every time that number call my house it blocks it right away :-)

good luck!!

you can simply call the number back and it goes straight to a person. this number has called me quite a few times. they have the name right, but the rest of the information is not. at first they were trying to get me to say my information to verify it, which i am not going to just give out my info that easily especially when i already know i have no account with them, so i made them state the info that they had. sure enough, wrong birthdate, wrong address. they apologize and say they will take the number off the list and may take a few days. this time they told me they will put me on the do not call list. we will see if it works this time.

I have been getting calls throughout the day today by the 888-748-4956 number. I called back and asked who was calling. They said Allied...Capital One. They asked me for my account info. I said that if THEY were calling ME all day then they surely should have my account info in front of them or at least be able to access it if they have my name. Then she asked for my Social Security...HAHAHA. I said absolutely NOT! She then asked for just the last four digits. I said sorry, no way can you have any of my information. If you need to further correspond with me, do it through mail. I have a Capital One account which is why I even bothered to speak with the woman. However, there are no outstanding balances and no need for them to ask for my information. I would say any of these phone calls have nothing to do with the actual Capital One company and would NOT give any information to them if asked.
