Has anyone ever heard of the Hecker Law Firm? Phone 609-779-6600?

I received a lettter from Laurence Hecker about a credit card bill that went to collections a few years ago. I sent in 1 payment to the collections company and never heard from them again. But my question is can I just contact the original credit card company and make payments with them? After reading all the messages on here I don't really want to contact this so called law firm.

I will never call these people back ever. Then they will have numbers and information they do not need.

Hello...These folks called on a claimed debt that was over ten years old and on which they are not able to sue because the statute of limitations has long passed. After about six months of these calls, I finally got someone to provide me with an address. I will write them a letter, certified return receipt, that requests they cease all contact and attmepts to collect, according to the FDCA, They use a blocked number. FYI in Maryland, recording a telephone conversation without informing someone is a crime, even if one end of the conversation is NOT in Maryland. If you tell them you do not want to be recorded, they are stuck.

Hecker and the collection agency should lose their licenses if they are attempting to collect debts in violation of State and Federal law. Complaints can be filed with the NJ and other state Attorney's Genera offices in the states they do business in, the FTC, local consumer protection agencies and the New Jersey state Bar counsel in Trenton. Pay your debts as best you can but, both sides must obey the law.

Anyone with a brain knows that all collection agencies have attorneys on staff. Lawrence Hecker is indeed an attorney.
Lawstudent, I'd drop out if I was you. Calls recorded without permission by a homeowner are NOT admissable in a court of law.
No, I dont work for Hecker, but the plain simple truth is pay your bills deadbeats.

Isn't that so easy for you to say! So I guess you never got fired or laid off from your job and was unable to pay some of your bills. Either way it does not give ANYONE the right to talk down to you or treat you like trash! We paid our debt off last year as of 5/30/10 and never received a letter stating that the debt was paid now we are getting letters from another collection agency saying it was not paid. After spending the last three days talking to the Law Office of Laurence A. Hecker and trying to get them to fax the letter needed what I got from them is "you don't have to be rude or what do you want me to do about it" I am pissed, cause what I want is for them to do their job! How hard is it to fax a letter stating that the debt has been paid?? We took care of our debt and should not be subject to their harassment or dirty mouths!

This attorney's office called me at my home and asked for me by name and spoke to my husband and addressed him by his name. My husband called me on my cell phone and gave me this phone number which I called from my cell phone. I told them I was returning the attorneys phone call and this rude person asked me exactly how I spelled my name and the last 4 digits of my social security number. When I asked her why she needed that information she stated she had to look up the message. I asked her if she could just inform me what the call was about and she stated she would have to check into it and unfortunately I gave her the last four digits of my ss #. Then she told me my message was not in the data base and it must have been an error in placing the call to me. After I argued with her for a while she hung up on me. I called back and told her "if this is a scam of some sort", they will be hearing from me (I have friends in higher places). She hung up on me again. I then called back and said something to her I'd rather not repeat in this message. Who the hell are these people and why are they calling me and know my husband and my names? (by the way, my husband told the attorney to call back after six PM that evening at home to speak with me, and he never did).

So I received an automated message last night from a collection agency telling me to call back 800 355 0123. The machine said my name but did not leave a reference number. When I got to work this morning, I called the number. A lady picked p with a different greeting (not Law Office ...). I told her why I was calling and she put me on hold for 5 -10 minutes. A stuff male picked up, asked my number and then transferred me to a legal assistant because he did not have my file. I asked the 'assisitant' what this call was and once, again, they are trying to collect on something that does not belong to me and is not on my credit report. This is the second fake law firm that has called about an account from 2002. I am in NY and they are NJ but the statue of limitation has run out a while ago besides the fact that the account isn't even mine...I am a victim of fraud and have put fraud alerts on my account. This is ridiculous and just down right dirty. I don't get collections calls but when they do come in (once in a blue moon), I call back to confirm they have the wrong number, wrong person etc. Just like the last law firm, I will have to tell them to stop contacting me for something that is not mine and it too old to even discuss.

I need help...I made the mistake of making a payment to these guys before I got to Googling them and reading about all the fraud they attempt. I was going to pay off my debit, on an account that has not seen activity other than payments since 2003. Can they sue me? I need to know ASAP! I tried to set up a payment with them for April, and they said that I would have to make a payment to them before the end of March (I can't I don't have the money). I've tried to contact the orgional debitor, but they sold it to a collection agency, who is using these guys as a lawyer. I do not want to go to court for this, so any information from you all would be great!

Hi everyone,
I used to work for this guy (NOT as a debt collector) and let me give you a few hints...........
First of all, it is a legit debt collection agency, so don't worry about that particular thing. They don't "steal" money; they don't take your info and sell it to others and they don't even report to your credit report.
BUT... before everyone starts bashing me, I'll tell you something else:
There are most certainly very rude, immatute and irritating collectors that work there. They do whatever they can to get their money. The problem is, the compliance department and Mr. Hecker himself never knew about any of these problems until AFTER we received the complaints; by then it was too late. ((Trust me, I'm not defending Mr. Hecker; while he never got on the phone or allowed the collectors to talk down to debtors whenever he overheard them, I couldn't stand the way he treated everyone. He is a manipulative, condescending, contradictory, hypocritical and abusive boss.))
The compliance department monitored calls constantly (unfortunately, it wasn't a big enough department to monitor every call at once) and when they caught a debtor violating the FDCPA (or just being plain rude), action WAS taken!

The problem with most collectors is they think all debtors are deadbeats --- but debtors, you're not off the hook, either. Many debtors (I'm not saying 'all'!) get a call from a collection company and either a) they really aren't going to pay their bill or b) they know (or think they know, in some cases) that they don't owe the debt, so they immediately think its a scam. Debtors, a tip for you, to try to keep things civil, is not to assume its a scam - at least not from this particular office, because it's not. Mistakes do happen. Occasionally, it was their mistake, and occasionally it was the client's mistake for giving us bad information. If you don't owe the debt, calmly tell the collector that you don't believe it's yours and you would like some more information to determine if it is.

If you tell the collector that you have an attorney, you must provide the attorney's information otherwise the collector can keep contacting you until they get the information (in most states, anyway. Check the laws in your state.)

If a collector becomes rude, ask to speak to the supervisor. Don't scream and yell because honestly, it just gets annoying. Of course, if the collector becomes rude or begins to yell at you (it doesn't happen as often as people claim, which we could figure out from our random monitoring of calls, but I would never deny that it does happen) then tell them that you want all further contact done through writing. This way, you can write a letter to the company which will go through the compliance department, and they can usually get monthly payments or a substantial discount on a lump sum (if you owe the debt) or help you figure out what's wrong if the account is not yours.

Here are a few other things you might need to know about the FDCPA:

If a collector does not identify himself as a debt collector either on voicemail or in his contact with you, then this is a violation.

If he discusses your account with someone you have not given permission to, this is a violation.

He CAN legally call anyone listed as a relative, co-signer, spouse, child etc. to determine where you live or where to contact you if the information is not provided by the client, but as said above, he CANNOT discuss the account with any of these people unless you give permission for him to do so.

Believe it or not, identity theft has actually occurred and we have witnessed it more than once. If you truly believe you do not owe the debt, then calmly tell them that you think someone has stolen your identity and you would like more information about the debt so that you can review it (and it'll either jog your memory or save you from more trouble from someone who has stolen your identity.)

If ever you are having trouble with a collector, ask to speak to Joe Torok (he is the director of compliance and a very nice guy) or Tracey Hawkins (also in the compliance department.) They are extremely helpful.

Make sure you check any state violations as well, and check around online for more information about FDCPA violations.

I am on both sides of the fence. I am also a debtor and I receive collection calls and letters almost every day because of medical bills and problems with medical insurance. I know what it feels like to be a debtor. But I also know that mistakes do happen in collection agencies, that some collectors (if not most) can be completely disrespectful and that it is a legitimate collection agency. I would never defend the nasty collectors or the rude ones and would always take the debtor's side in those cases; but there are plenty of cases where the debtors jump to conclusions (because they read threads on the internet) and immediately get on the defensive.

Next time you get a call from a collector, think about which one of the debtors you are. That should help you decide how to handle the call.

And a couple other things debtors should know is......
They will have your social security number and probably some other information because it is provided when the client sends over the accont and......
Just because the statute of limitations has run up, that doesn't mean a debt collector cannot attempt to collect the debt. It means that, if the collection agency were to sue (this collection agency does not sue debtors, so if a collector threatens to sue, it's an immediate violation) then the debtor could raise the statute of limitations as an affirmative defense and the suit would be dismissed.

boy you couldn'y leave your stupidity to one post.well here goes.

1)while this and other scuzzbuckets can try,if i know the SOL is up can send a complete C&D letter.once you contact after that.you are the ones who get sued.
2)if the person is dumb enough to give a name then they if the CA is sued can be fined personally.
3)this place does threaten to sue.it's just people need to have it on tape.

i encourage everyone to use calls fro hecker as evidence for action against them as they deserve to be sued not paid.

Hecker is supposedly purchasing junk debts from Unifund CCR Partners. Dont acknowledge the debt as it gives them ammunition to restart the creditor's right to take legal action against you. Instead, send them a certified letter, Return Receipt Requested, asking them to: 1) identify the original creditor; 2) prove they are licensed to collect a debt in your state by providing you with the business registration number; 3) prove the statute of limitation has not expired on the account; 4) send you a notarized copy of YOUR ORIGINAL signature when they assume you acquired this debt; 5) explain how they calculated what they say you owe; 6) provide you a breakdown of each charge (interest or payment missed); 7) provide you with proof that they are authorized to collect a debt on behalf of the creditor.

The law protects consumers and all of the above are listed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USCD 1692g Sec. 809(b).

As far as harrasing you, include this in your letter:

I am also requesting, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your offices to my home, cell phone or place of employment. If your offices attempt telephone communications with me, including but not limited to computer generated call and calls and correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment. All future communications with me MUST be done in writing.

After you do that: keep a careful tab on their response! Most of these junk debt collectors get their way because people are scared to show up in court and fight their judgment. Keep a log of any harrassment (and I mean each and every instance) as it holds its weight in gold in court.

Sorry, I forgot to mention this. In your letter, do not acknowledge that it's your debt. The burden of proof is on them until they provide you with validation that the law requires. That's for your protection. Simply state: YOUR CLAIM IS HEREBY DISPUTED AND VALIDATION IS REQUESTED.

Received call to day. Message said, "Hi, this message is for . This is Janine Taylor. I'm calling on behalf of attorney Lawrence Hecker. , there is an important matter here, that does concern you. You may reach me at 800-355-0123. Please make reference to file number . Thank you"

I did research online and wanted to call them to feel them out. My intent was just to call them and get the mailing address.

call 1 - Answered. I said hi and I was hoping to get the mailing address. She said to hold and put me on hold for a while.

call 2 - Answered. I said hi and I was trying to get the mail address. She said I'd have to hold and put me on hold a while longer.

call 3 - Answered. I said that I'd like to talk to her for a moment. hold.

call 4 - Answered. I said that I didn't want to get put on hold for just a moment. hold

call 5 - She said, you will have to wait your turn sir. hold

call 6 - I said, no hold please.

sidebar - same girl everytime

call 7 - This is where she started just hanging up on me, or putting me on hold.

call 8 - 69 - Hung up on or straight to hold.

call 70 - (new guy) I asked if I could get the mailing address. He said, "Oh he's lovin' this." Straight to hold.

call 71 - I asked if I could get the address. He said, "Listen, I'm just a receptionist taking a ton of calls, if you want that you'll have to hold." At this point communication has happened, I was happy to hold. When the call was picked back up, I asked if I could have the mailing address. He asked, "What are you trying to mail."
"You'll receive that in the mail," me.
"Is it a payment or what?"
"I just need the mailing address."
"You aren't listening, what are you trying to mail."
"I am listening intently, but all I need from you is the mailing address."
"Well, the thing is we have several different locations."
"I just need the mailing address to the corporate headquarters."
"Well then, why don't we try this again." He said that pretty pissed, and hung up.

call 72 - Straight to hold.

call 73 - I asked for the mailing address, and I was told I'd have to hold. Again, that is no problem; I'm as calm as can be and content with holding as long as you've told me I have a reason to do so. Then, the same man that I had just spoken to previously answered again.
"How can I help you."
"I just need to know your mailing address."
"Fine. Do you have a pen?"
"Yes I do. Go ahead."
This is the address with a few, uh huh's and got it's.
2C S Gold Dr
Hamilton NJ 08691

73 calls seems like far too much leg work to get a mailing address. So tomorrow I'll be sending them a certified letter requesting information on why they've contacted me and demanding that further correspondence be handled through parcel mail. I've also drafted a letter to the Missouri and New Jersey Attorneys General.

So yeah, long story can be abbreviated to; these guys are not friendly and certainly aren't trying to run a legitimate operation.

FBI family friend reccommended the following information when we too, received a call from the law offices of Lawrence A. Hecker today.

Go to, http://www.ic3.gov where you can submit a claim to let the government know what is happening.

The more people who submit this form, the better chance we have at stopping this scam and preventing it happening to other people.

Yesterday my husband got a call on his cell phone from these people from a dept over 10 years old, how they got his cell phone number baffles me crazy! Then today they call the beauty shop connected to our place of work looking for my husband, how that got that number again totally baffles me! When he called the number they claimed they were not heckler group which they left in the message to return their call, thats odd! My husband asked them to cease all calls to both the beauty shop and his cell phone number otherwise he would file a complaint with the federal trade commision, click, they hung up right away, something quite fishy about this place and its not ligit in my book.

File a complaint with Attorney Ethics in NJ (609) 530-4008.

His bar number is 214431965.

He was admitted in 1965 and was once disbarred in 2001, but has been reinstated. They have received numerous complaints about him, so I am sure if they continue to get complaints like this, they will once again take away his bar card.

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may print an Attorney Grievance Form. Send the original and two (2) copies to the district secretary where the attorney has an office for practice.

http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/oae/grievancefrm.pdf

District Ethics Secretary
Alan G. Frank, Jr., Esq., Secretary
GAYLORD, RUBINSTEIN & POPP, LLC

Use a complaint like this, but add your own dates and times and examples of conversations.

"Mr. Hecker fails to supervise non-lawyer assistant(s) by using the title ???lawyer??? or ???law office??? to cause fear, intimidates, and harasses people with alleged debt. These non-lawyer assistants also refuse to provide the bar number of Mr. Hecker when requested, but claim they are calling from a law office. Mr. Hecker is also engaged in gross neglect and record keeping violations by having non-lawyer assistant(s) calling alleged debtors without verifying information / debt / statue of limitations on such debt. They are using the legal title of, ???lawyer??? to attempt to collect on ???Zombie??? debt in which the statue of limitations has expired and no legal course can be taken. If you use any search engine (such as Google) and enter, ???Attorney Laurence Hecker??? you will see a pattern of abuse and complaints from numerous victims on various, web-sites, bogs, and postings of the same nature."

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY FIRST I MAY NOT CONDONE ALL OF MY CO-WORKERS' TATICS. BUT OUR OFFICE IS LEGIT..ALSO..IF U THE CONSUMER HAVE A LEGITMENT COMPLAINT CONTACT OUR COMPLAINCE DEP..ALL OUR CALL R AUTOMAtically record so u can contct the compliance department at 1-800 #....Now to all the consumers out there looking fr any excused not to honor their word when they signed that legaly binding contract, whether loan ..credit card..car...etc...PAY YOUR BILL! it.s not about our office it about your responsibilties u signed up for when sign contract...Regardless of if staue of limitation run out on debt its still a debt!! everyone on these sites hollaring respect n my rights...Well what about the moral obligation you have to honor your word??dont feel u have to honor the contract from a moral stand point huh?? probably not cause u too busy looking for a way out of something YOU ASK FOR!! NO WONDER OUR ECONMY IS SO MESS UP PEOPLE ARE BORROWING MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT WITH NO INTENT ON PAYING IT BACK...GO FIGURE....One more thing im not on this sites to talk down..cause i too have debt but u know what i do, instead of complaining about the company managing the account at this time...i look at myself n say i put myself in the situation now i have to handle my RESPONSIBILITIES!!!..Some of u need to do the same. this is just a little " FOOD FOR THOUGHT" TO ALL YA'LL SO CALLED CONSUMERS OUT THERE SWEAR THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT RIGHTS...(WE CALL THEM PROFFESSIONAL DEBTORS BECAUSE ALL THEY DO IS BORROW MONEY FROM GOVERNMENT N THEN FILE BANKO..OR DO SOME OTHER CRAZY TACTIC TO SCAM MONEY LIKE USING KIDS SS # TO OPEN LINES OF CREDIT N S FOURTH!!)..need to stop feeding the masses bs on these websites cause..whether u believe it or not..if u have a debt in our office it's legit regardless to how old it is..n not all debt in our office is out of statue of limitation either. Infact we get 1000ss of acc from some of the most biggest debt buying companies in the UNTITED STATES((ex..cavarly port..)just to name one...n quite sure u proffessional debtors out there r aware of who they are...while our office may not sue u..our clients do have other offices that will..so maybe some of yall consumers out there better take advantage of the oppurnity to address the issue in our office while u still can!!!
furthermore our office is just like a lot of other companies out there we have room for growth n development too..but instead on contcentrating on our tactics..y not figure out a way to pay your bill..cause i am ..
.............there are employess in this office that will treat u with respect n courtesy...but at the same time we know when someone is calling just to play games or just trying to stall out their resp...so basicly you get what u ask for...your file is not in our office because u did something good in life..so dont expect to get treated like like some type of royalty....just handle your business n pay YOUR BILL.. WE DIDNT PUT YOU IN THE SITUATION YOU R IN BUT WE CAN HELP YOU GET OUT...ALSO JUST BECAUSE YOU SEND THAT BS LETTER IN TO OUR OFFICE IT MIGHT STOP OUR OFFICE FROM CONTACTING YOU AGAIN...BUT THE DEBT WILL POP UP LATER IN SOMEONE ELSE'S OFFICE..ASK YOUR SELF IF SOMEBODY BORROW MONEY FROM YOU SAID WILL pay it back in 2 days...but u dont c them for two years..still going to owe money right??..okay then handle your resp..stop looking for EXCUSES......

I just paid $200.00 for an attorney to handle this. The best $200.00 I ever spent. No more phone calls. They are a scavenger debt company who buy old debt for pennies or fraction of pennies on the dollar. Chances are, more likely than not, if they are calling you this may not be your debt at all. It may be an old debt WHICH IS PAST THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS. It can also be something you settled on years ago (paying something less than the full amount and the original debtor was writing off the balance which these people bought) which is still past the statute of limitations. These people do not buy legitimate debts. Inform them that you are recording these conversations. Never admit that you know what they are talking about. They must supply the proof. They usually refuse. Get their full name and mailing address. If they are calling you at work, a verbal 'do not call me at work' should suffice. If they are calling you at home, you have to send a letter. Once my attorney called them, low and behold, all calls stop. Keep your cool, but DO NOT be intimidated by them.

307791-You dont know whats going on in peoples lives that make them unable to pay their bills! If people have to choose between paying for rent, food, and uttilities or paying on a credit card balance it doesnt take a genuis to figure out where the money is going to go! Plus the credit card companies are to blame for the financial debt that a lot of people are now finding themselves in! They send credit cards to people with so many hidden fees that even if you make the minimum payments every month on time it will take you years to pay off your balance by then the credit card companies sell your account balance to these collection agencies. Then these people call you names like (DEADBEAT), Loser and so on! Maybe you haven't yet come to a point in your life where you have to struggle to earn a living or had a good paying job then got laid off due to budget cuts or god forbid end up like me a person who had to decide to either pay for cancer treatments or make a credit card payment! Tell me! am I a deadbeat? Do I deserve to have these people call my home and harrass me and say things like "maybe I should stop paying for my treatments and pay them because I got the credit card before I got cancer!" You tell me! Does any company have the right to make statements like that! This company whom Mr. Hecker has associated himself with are saying thing and misrepresenting themselves as a law firm when in truth they are debt collectors. I understand that I have to pay my bills! But I can't pay my debts if I'm dead!

I received a call this morning asking for dil by her maiden name. (They have been married 8 years) I was busy but polite. Said I would take a message. I asked how they got my phone number...they didn't know. I told them I was not sure when I could get the message to them. The horrible lady on the other end got extremely rude with me and asked me why I couldn't get a message to my son when it involved an attorney. She was very sarcastic and it made me wonder who she really was.

When I finally got the time I looked this number up on the internet. After reading about these people I called her bk. (someone answered the phone "attorneys office') I asked for the person who called me. I told her it was ridiculous that they had so many complaints on the internet and to NEVER call my number again.

This lady lost it big time and began screaming that I called HER and that they 'were too an attorneys office'. She was literally screaming this over and over before she hung up on me. She sounded like a 3 yr old. Very professional outfit there.

I passed along the internet info to son. Why can't frauds like this be run out of business??

I had the same thing happen to me!! I live in Kansas City Missouri and they told me the bill that I owed was from 1998 and I told them I was not going to pay. They proceeded to call me everyday and harass me and once bringing me to tears. I sent them a REquest for Ceasing Phone Calls by Certified mail. Hopefully this will work.

I realize now that once a debt is past the time of collecting, the companies sell our names to collection agencies and this is FREE money for them. This does not go on your credit report; they are lying.
If they call you, tell them "Do NOT call me again. Send me something in the mail." When you do that, they have to and they are not supposed to call and harrass you anymore. I have saved some of these collection letters just to refer back to and they have give 50% reductions, 80% and even 90% to pay off the debt! So a $1800. debt could be satisfied on $180; yeah right, it's just money in their pockets. DON'T give into them!
You know your situation and if the bank or lending institute didn't get your money back then, you know they aren't getting it and if you go back to them and tell them you paid it, they DIDN'T get the money.
And I don't appreciate the one guy who said "If you folks had paid your bills then you wouldnt have to deal with a collection agency." Hey, you don't know everyone's circumstance and you have no right to make a judgment call. Unexpected things happen; that is life!

They contacted me and got into a yelling match one day and I ended up hanging up. The next day they called again, asked me why I hadn't paid my debt and when I tried to answer he interupted me and wouldn't let me talk. He then started yelling at me and hung up. I called him back and when the secretary put me through he immediately started yelling and hung up again. I called back because I was furious at this point and he threatened me if I called him back, of all the nerve. I finally got to talk to someone else to get the name of the company and address. I am glad that I found this sight to verify that they are scum.

These ppl are sick and don't knw who the hell they are messing with. To the idiot that spoke about paying ur bills. This has nothing to do with paying bills. Why? I on today received a phone call from a female requesting information also, The BITCH was flat out rude, sarcastic, degrading, etc. She had that type of attitude with me and I don't fucking know the BITCH and that exactly what she is. I don't have a bill with these ppl r anyone else that is unpaid so these idiots have no right harrassing me. They claim they were looking for someone else but knew information about me and my husband. We don't have shit to do with ppl and their damn bills if that is what it is about. They are going to piss off the wrong ppl and someone will drive there and pop a CAP in their asses for that bull-shit!!!

I was just contacted about a debt from 1988!!! That was included in a bankruptcy dated 1998!!! I told the lady not to contact us as it was illegal. Then I hung up on her. I'm sending a cease communication letter in the morning. They obviously don't know about laws etc.

Anyone with a brain knows that all collection agencies have attorneys on staff. Lawrence hecker is indeed an attorney.
Lawstudent, i'd drop out if i was you. Calls recorded without permission by a homeowner are not admissable in a court of law.
No, i dont work for hecker, but the plain simple truth is pay your bills deadbeats.

for this person who thinks they are all high and mighty and giving the advice to pay their bills. Obviously you are one of the fortunate ones who have not lost their job or had hours or work cut back. If you wore these people's shoes then you wouldnt be so smart elleck in your comments about paying bills. I wish people like you would have to suffer through hard times just to show you how it is. If these folks could pay, im sure they would. See how you like falling on your face in these hard economical times. Most people created debts and were paying them just fine til the economy went south, now they live paycheck to paycheck just to keep the rent paid and the lights on. So whoever you are, your day will come!!!!

I have reported them to an attorney who is well aware who they are. The problem is that they have tried to locate their actual headquarters and failed several times. But not much longer. They were just recently sued for 7.9 million dollars by the state attorney in W. Virginia. Somehow he managed to locate them for approaching people that were paid up or way past SOL's. He was ordered to pay the plaintiffs back over $50,000 plus other penalties.
They have contacted me and done things that were not FTC compliant as well as Pinnacle which farms out to them which they also committed violations, especially for things that they admitted to me that was their mistake. I even have that recorded but informed them that befdore we went on with the conversation.
They tell me that they were going to send some people to my house....I told them I wish they would. I told them if that happens, they will not return.

I get collection calls from Hecker for an unknown person. When I call to complain, I get a belligerent reply that they have never heard of me and hung up on. This is crap!

Yep. Me too. The crappy phone call with a rude rep from the "Law offices of Laurence Hecker" I thought she said "Heckler" and started laughing. Anyway, same story as everybody else. She began the call by asking me if I had ever heard of Washington Mutual Bank. WTF? I had NO idea who this person was, why they were calling, and when I tried to ask questions she went nuts. I got the letter a few days after the phone call (I had to hang-up on her just like everybody else).

The client is stated as Pinnacle Credit Services. I'm not sure I ever had a cc with the original creditor. It doesn't ring a bell. I did go back and look at my divorce decree and my ex and I split credit card debt. Still couldn't tell though and that was a long time time ago. Could be past SOL. I really do need proof and I asked for it in writing, citing the various federal laws (as well as my state statue). But really, that's not the concern is it??

I pulled my credit report and this account IS on my report. AND it now shows I made a payment on this card earlier THIS YEAR!!! I looked this up. It's called "re aging" and it's (of course) against the law. So first I don't know if this is an account I ever had, don't know if I even owe on it if I did have this account, certainly haven't made a payment on this account this year, and the letter from Laurence Hecker says I owe 11k+. Wow.

Mr. Hecker was not disbarred. He was SUSPENDED for 3 months in 2001 for misconduct of an employee and poor supervision of that employee (and for rehiring that employee, who stole money from a client repeatedly and was an addict). Hecker was ruled against in a PA court in 2005 for misleading statements in his letter(s) to alleged debtors. (The wording has been changed as a result of that ruling). In November of 2010, the AG of West VA did indeed force Hecker to pay 45k + costs BACK to victims in that state. These were people who had paid Hecker's various collection entities (APM Financial is one of them), on debts they either didn't owe at all or debts that were past the SOL.

Bottom line for me? Sent letter as required- requesting proof of Hecker's licensing to collect debt in my state, proof of the original debt, amount owed broke-out by principle, interest and claimed fees, documentation of how many times the debt has been bought and sold etc etc (look up everything your latter must have in it) and MOST importantly: disputing that I owe the debt in the first place. You must clearly write: I do not believe I owe what you say I owe. (Or simple words to that effect).

Now I will file complaints with: FTC, Washington State AG, New Jersey Board of Ethics (phone number 609-530-4008) and wait and see what happens. I already have grounds for criminal violation of WA State Fair Credit Statutes bc the original phone call came from an employee who claimed to be an attorney and at no time identified herself as a debt collector. In addition, I have proof of re-aging and this debt has been reported to the CBs (credit bureaus) by more than one entity, all part of Hecker's alliance. (The latter is a bit weak, I admit. But Pinnacle, APM vCollect Global and others are part of the Hecker Alliance).

As for you, Hecker Employee, you who attacked people who just need to pay their bills and blah blah blah. I CANNOT wait until misfortune befalls you. And I'm deadly serious about that. Because it will.

LASTLY: DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS OVER THE PHONE EVER. This "firm" will drain your account and/or withdraw funds well past the agreed upon amount.

In most States, a recorded conversation IS LEGAL AND ADMISSABLE IN COURT -IF one of the parties recorded is aware of the recording. And, if the recording begins by informinf the other party that the conversation is being recorded, then BOTH PARTIES are aware, which should take care of any exceptions not coveref if you record yourself.
