We've suddenly started getting messages left on our answering machine from this company. Not that they identified themselves, I had to do some sleuthing to find out who they are. They claim we have a "personal matter" to resolve and need to call them by 7 pm tonight. I am 99.9% sure we have no outstanding debts anywhere so I am just ignoring the calls but it is bothersome none the less. Is ignoring them the right thing to do? They appear to be a legitimate business but why they are calling me is a mystery.

I'd talk to them once, find out exactly what they want. Then, if they were collecting on one of my debts, I would send a DV letter and a partial cease communications letter (written contact only). If not one of my debts, I would send a complete cease and desist letter.
